While I try to stick with a weekly Monday morning note, today calls for an exception. And a correction.
My January 6th, 2025, Monday morning note was about our flashbulb memories — vivid snapshots etched in the brain about something of great consequence. I offered my short list of seven — November 22, 1963. July 20, 1969. August 8, 1974. January 28, 1986. September 11, 2001. November 4, 2008. January 6, 2021. Today, though, I realize I have an eighth. June 27th, 2024, the anniversary of Joe Biden putting his stunning decline on full display. As my phone blew up with text messages, it was abundantly clear that America and the free world were in deep, deep peril.
For democracy-loving masochists, I’d highly recommend the recent book Fight, by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes. IMHO, it offers more insight than Jake Tapper’s Original Sin.
Nervously,
Ted
