The Week In Review
Well, you just have to wonder. Trump’s vicious attack on Springfield, Ohio, is straight from Hitler’s playbook, as he spews patently-obvious hate-fueling lies about immigrants. Even conservative Ohio Governor Mike DeWine calls Trump out. Mark Robinson, Trump’s “MLK on steroids,” has descended into unprintable scandal. In stark contrast, Oprah’s remarkable Unite For America online rally (with roots in our July Blitz Primary proposal!) showcases a compelling, competent leader.
Yet, today, the New York Times reports that polls have shifted in Trump’s favor. Like reading that Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs is becoming more popular.
Now more than ever, you need to play moneyball with your donations. If we sloppily pile $’s into high-profile, over-funded campaigns, we’ll lose this election. Be strategic. And don’t delay. Get every dollar you intend to donate out the door — soon!! — to vote-producing groups — like those featured on www.DemocracyMoneyball.com. Or those featured today, from the blue lakes of Michigan to the Tarheel blue of North Carolina, with 31 electoral votes on the line.
Michigan
I spent last week in Michigan, and saw first-hand how close the election will be. While there, I caught up with MI’s impressive Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist. At the Convention, he addressed several state delegations, and a RI delegate told me, “He gave the best speech I heard all week.” That’s Garlin — a rising star and likely future Governor. Garlin is raising $’s for candidates in close state House races, and their incremental votes will lift Harris/Walz and Elissa Slotkin. Moneyball.
Speaking of Michigan, Governor Gretchen Whitmer needs our support for a Blue Wall Bus Tour with her fellow Governors Tony Evers and Josh Shapiro. They’ll absolutely turn out votes in MI, WI, and PA. Send $’s to support Big Gretch.
North Carolina
Mark Robinson’s plummet gives Harris/Walz a real chance to win North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes. Two moneyball options are the NC Democratic state party and Jeff Jackson’s campaign for Attorney General. Less obvious, though, is the important NC work of Red, Wine, and Blue, a fast-growing group founded by Katie Paris to engage and energize women voters. Check out their SWEEP (Suburban Women Engaged, Empowered, and Pissed) Facebook group. In NC alone, they’ve recruited 1,350 mobilizers doing potentially-decisive GOTV work. To have full impact, they need an additional $100K asap, and will make great use of your $’s.
So please step up today and support one or more of these democracy-defending initiatives,
